6.7 Final Drawing Assignment

Description

Final assessment for my MOOC class, Natural History Illustration (NHI 101x) - instagram page here: newcastlexnhi. It's a free online illustration course if you're interested in taking it - I highly reccomend it!

It was kinda awesome to be surrounded by so many skilled illustrators. It pushed me to improve more than I have (and had a bit of healthy competition). It gave me a skill level to look forward to reaching and awesome goals to shoot for! It's already showing in a lot of my digital illustrations.

Doing this just makes me want to study more animals - and plants! I never really liked doing plants because I wasn't much good at them (though I didn't mind trees), but I'm kinda excited to get to break them down more now.

Thanks to MaggiefromSpace from space for sharing the notification from oxpecker - absolutely loved it and hope they do it again! I know some people who would enjoy this opportunity~

Might move to scraps... I dunno.

The shading here is truly excellent, the sheen and contours and muscles are perfectly mapped- you should be very proud of this piece, please don't move it to scraps!
